¿Cómo uso El Primer Condicional?

El First Conditional se utiliza en situaciones en las que si se cumple una condición, hay probabilidades de que se de un resultado determinado. Es decir, que exista una posibilidad real en el futuro de que algo ocurra.

• If I have time tomorrow, I will help you.

Si tengo tiempo mañana, te ayudaré.

• If you study, you will pass the exam.

Si estudias, pasarás el examen.

ESTRUCTURA

If + simple present, simple future

La estructura de una oración con el primer condicional consiste en tener dos clausulas, la "If clause" y la "main clause"

REGLA

Si la clausula "if" va primero divides la oracion con una coma (,) PERO si va de segundo no lleva coma.

• If you study hard, you will pass the exam.
• You will pass the exam if you study hard.

 

Mira estos ejemplos:

• If it rains, I won't go to the park.

          Si llueve, no iré al parque. 

• If the plane is delayed, she will be late.

      Si el avión se retrasa, ella llegará tarde.

• Your sister will go mad if you touch her things.

       Tu hermana se volverá loca si tocas sus cosas.

• If I go to bed late, I will get up very late

       Si me acuesto tarde, me levantaré muy tarde.

IMPORTANTE

Para la frase del futuro utilizamos mayoritariamente el futuro simple con will, pero también se puede utilizar el futuro simple con going to o un verbo modal: can, might, should, must, etc.

• If you are nice to me, I may buy you a gift when I'm in Peru.
• If you are going to speak like that, you'll have to leave.
• If you ever go to Chicago, you should take a boat trip on the river.
• If the movie is boring, we can always leave.
• If we save enough money, we might visit you next year.
• If she is angry with you, I would ask her why.
