¿Cómo dirías en inglés "Hay una manzana en la mesa" o "Hay unos nuevos modelos de autos en la tienda"? Pues es sencillo, existen dos formas de decirlo y no es nada complicado: There is - There are

There is 

Es para hablar o referirnos a cosas en singular.  

Forma Positiva

• There is a problem with my backpack. 

Hay un problem con mi mochila. 

• There is a cat on my bed. 

Hay un gato sobre mi cama. 

• There is a glass of wine on the night table. 

Hay un vaso de vino sobre la mesa de noche. 

• There is a beautiful house in the other neighborhood. 

Hay una hermosa casa en el otro vecindario. 

Forma Negativa 

• There is no honey in the honeycomb, it was all a hoax.

No hay miel en el panal, todo fue un engaño.

• There is no worse crisis than inhumanity.

No hay peor crisis que la inhumanidad.

• There are not three pears on the table, there are five.

No hay tres peras en la mesa, hay cinco.

Forma Interrogativa

• Is there any chance to go on vacation next summer?

¿Hay alguna posibilidad de ir de vacaciones el próximo verano?

• Is there anything I can do for you?

¿Hay algo que pueda hacer por ti?

• Is there a dog in my bed?

  Yes, there is. / No, there is not.

¿Hay un perro en mi cama?

Respuestas cortas:

Yes, there is.

No, there not / no / No, there isn't

Contracciones:

There's : There is

There's not: There is not

There isn't: There is not

There Are 

Los usamos al referirnos a cosas en plural. 

Forma Positiva

• There are three trees down the hill. 

Hay tres árboles colina abajo.

• There are three boys in my classroom who are very tall and thin.

Hay tres niños en mi salón de clases que son muy altos y delgados.

• There are four things I really enjoy: eating, sleeping, loving, and watching television.

Hay cuatro cosas que realmente disfruto: comer, dormir, amar y mirar televisión.

• I realized there are two more seasons of The Originals on Netflix.

Me di cuenta de que hay dos temporadas más de The Originals en Netflix.

Forma Negativa

• There are not enough beds in the hotel.

No hay suficientes camas en el hotel.

• There are no red dresses in my closet.

No hay vestidos rojos en mi armario.

• There are no students playing in the classroom; they are studying.

No hay estudiantes jugando en el aula; ellos están estudiando.

• There are no colors in my pencil case.

No hay colores en mi estuche.

Forma Interrogativa

• Are there black heels in the store?

¿Hay tacones negros en la tienda?

• Aren't there monkeys jumping in the zoo?

¿No hay monos saltando en el zoológico?

• Are there branded wallets on sale?

¿Hay carteras de marca a la venta?

Respuestas cortas:

Yes, there are.

No, there are not / No, there aren't

Contracción:

There aren't: There are not
